We Energies to idle one of its coal plants for half the year

The plant hasn’t been called on much during the spring and fall in recent years, utility spokesman Brian Manthey said. The reason: in the wholesale power market, natural-gas-burning plants are called on first because the fuel is cheaper than coal.
